40 days! Some reminders ...

My, does time fly! If you've sent your RSVP cards back, you rock. If not ... you have until May 28. Also, if you received a purple slip in your invitation for our post-wedding karaoke party, please send an RSVP to krosenthal52@hotmail.com by May 28. We need to tell the fine folks at Ozzies how many people they can expect. Days to the RSVP deadline: 23.

If you haven't made travel plans and are worried about a hotel, rooms are reserved at the Marriott near Sea-Tac. A confirmation number is needed to book a room, so contact me if you need one.

Although the wedding is less than six weeks away, Jake and I will travel to the glorious state of Washington on June 2. My sister Lauren is graduating from high school June 7, and she's valedictorian of her class. Can't miss that! So basically, Jake and I have four more weeks of work before the whirlwind of activity begins.

More karaoke party info

For those who don't have designated drivers: If you think you will need a ride from the reception at Everett Golf & Country Club to Ozzies and back, let us know. If demand warrants it, we'll try to arrange some sort of van transportation.

A warning: The ride is about 30 minutes to Seattle (on a good day) and 30 back to Everett. So if you think you'll want to go home or to your hotel immediately after the karaoke party, van transit might not be the best option for you. However, if you want to knock back a few drinks and do your years-perfected version of "Baby Got Back," then van transit will come in handy.

Looking for a hotel?

I reserved a block of rooms at a Marriott near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The room rate is $129/night, about standard for the area. If you need a room, e-mail me and I can send you a confirmation number.

Schedule of events (i.e., explanation of karaoke afterparty)

Jake and I will be having a karaoke fest at Ozzies in Seattle the night of June 14. We are expecting around 300 people (GASP!) at the reception at Everett Golf & Country Club, and we want to have a smaller party for our friends because we live far away from most of them and want to hang out for a little bit. The country club reception is scheduled to go from 1 to 6 p.m., but Jake and I probably will cut out around 5 (read: I will want to change out of my wedding dress into more suitable attire for singing and partying, and it would be nice to have some dinner).

In short, here is the list of events for June 14:

Noon: Wedding at Everett Golf & Country Club
1 p.m.: Reception scheduled to begin
6 p.m.: Reception scheduled to end
8 p.m. to closing: Karaoke party at Ozzies in Seattle

We're asking people now to carpool to the wedding and/or reception and/or to Ozzies. Seattle parking on a Saturday night (or any night, really) can be a pain in the butt.

There will be a piece of paper tucked into the invitation that explains all of this in further detail, but we wanted to start spreading the word. To RSVP for the karaoke party, send an e-mail to katierosenthal@gmail.com or get in touch via MySpace or Facebook.

74 days!

With about two and a half months until our wedding, we thought we would create a space on the Web to keep our friends and family up to date on the happenings leading up to the big day. It also will help us figure out what else we must do.

Here's a list of what we're working on:

-Registry: We're set up at Target and Macy's, but not fully yet, so please bear with us. Picking out dishes and trying to keep as little money out of Martha Stewart's pockets as possible is proving more difficult than we thought. We're hoping this will be completed by the end of April.
-Invitations: They're printed, but Katie must address and stamp them. They will be mailed the last week of April.
-Cake: We have the design picked out, and we have selected most of the flavors. The rest will decided upon this weekend.
-Playlist: Katie's trusty iPod will be providing the reception music, and song sequencing will be a major part of this task.
-Post-reception plans: This includes our karaoke party in Seattle. (More on that in an upcoming post.)
-VOWS! Yes, we are writing them.

A list of what is done:
-Dresses for bride and bridesmaids
-Tuxedos for groom, groomsmen and fathers of bride and groom
-Cake deposit
-Photographer
-Wedding and reception place booked
-Food for reception
-Rehearsal dinner place booked
-Pastor booked
